I read Watts book first, "The New Exodus in Mark." I thought it was quite good. Watts book was written after "The Way of the Lord" so I thought Watts would be better. But after reading both books, Marcus' book is|About the Author|Joel Marcus is Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Duke Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut. He is the author of two books on the Gospel of Mark as well as Jesus and the Holocaust: Reflections on Suggering and Hop

This scholarly work includes a review of the Markan narratives about Jesus' baptism, his transfiguration, and his suffering and death, as well as the discussion of his relation to Elijah, his identity as "the stone which the builder rejected," and the question of whether or not he is David's son.
